Up

Dear Diary,
My foster family thinks of everything! Back at the track I had to jump if I wanted to get anywhere higher than the floor, but here I have stairs. I have to admit that I was proud of myself when I mastered the stairs to the deck in the backyard, but that was nothing compared to what was to come. My foster family introduced me to a whole new part of the house...a second floor! The only drawback...more stairs! I was a little intimidated, but my foster brother showed me how it was done with a few quick trips up and down. In no time, I was exploring the second floor, but then it came time to go back down. I'm not sure how it is for humans, but getting up there was the easy part. After some further instruction from my foster brother and some coaxing/paw holding from my foster mom, I was back down on solid ground. I am learning so many new things, smelling new scents, and tasting new flavors...I just feel so worldly now!

Playing Ball

Dear Diary,

OMG! What a great day. I went out into the backyard like usual, but today my foster dad brought this bright green fuzzy round thing. I have never seen anything so beautiful and tasty looking. I admit that I felt a little unlady-like drooling over the thought of chewing on it. I was snapped out of my trance when my foster dad threw the green sphere of deliciousness as far as he could. I took off...after all you have to chase something that looks that pretty. Finally, the fuzzy round thing was in my mouth (where it belongs) and I was trotting back to my foster Dad to find out why he would throw such a great thing away. Get this, I drop it at his feet and after he rubbed me for returning it...he threw it again. Is this guy nuts? I mean, my friends back in the kennel wouldn't believe me if I told them someone was tossing something so valuable away. C'mon foster dad, I got it this second time but you're going to have to be more responsible. He rubbed me again, scratched my back legs, and told me that this was called playing ball. Oohhhhh, this is a game and that fuzzy green thing is a ball. He' throwing the ball just for me so I can do what I was born to....run really fast! We played ball for 30 minutes until I was panting like I just won the daily double! My foster dad took me inside and after I had a drink, I laid down and dreamt of my forever home. There was lots of ball playing in that dream, HINT HINT!
